Visconti is excited to introduce the “Pen of a Thousand Years”, the San Miniato al Monte, in two striking, elegant colors – white and green.
The San Miniato al Monte penis a tribute by Visconti to the celebrations forthe San Miniato millennium, which ended on April 27th, 2019. It pays homage to the architecture and religious history behind the historic San Miniato al Monte church located in the heart of Florence. Construction on the present church began in 1018, and was completed in 1207.
The design of this beautiful, refined pen is shrouded in Florentine history, religion, and architecture. Visconti used elements and motifs from the San Miniato church to create an elegant writing instrument modeled out of the same type of marble used in the Romanesque architecture of the church.
Inspired by ancient geometry, the star octagon symbol is used as the design of the cap and body, symbolizing the journey back to perfection.The clip is designed after the handle of a chalice, symbolizing that one can only receive illuminating intuitions when their mind is clear like that of an empty chalice.
The San Miniato is limited to 155 pieces and is presented in a special limited edition collectors gift box featuring an internal box crafted from olive wood contained in a white outer wooden box. The fountain pen features the patented Power Filler System, and sterling silver trim with vermeil plating.
